Come and Dine (V)      Listen
In past lessons we have been looking at an example of how to go through the Bible verse by verse, communicating with God, in a kind of together time with Him. At a set time each day, we pray and ask God to reveal truth to us as we study his Word. We have been using 2 Corinthians chapter 1 as an example. Verse 20 says: "For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God." If God's promises are made personal "through us," is there in this passage a promise for me to claim? Yes Lord! "All the promises of God in Christ, through us." Lord, thank You. I want to record my own yes and amen to that, Lord! O God, I cannot conceive of all that You have given me in Christ. Indeed, I cannot imagine how empty my life would be without You. Today, dear Lord Jesus, I affirm that You are all I need as I face the demands of today with all its opportunities, its testings and its decisions. The Bible Says "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God" (Phil. 4:6). If I have a need, I am invited to ask God. I also pray on behalf of others in the following fashion. On Monday - M ¡V we pray for Missionaries that God brings to mind. Tuesday T - Thanksgiving for all He has done, for all that He will do and for all that He has given. Wednesday ¡V W ¡V Workers; Pastors; Evangelists; Bible Teachers and Church leaders. Thursday T- Tasks; responsibilities around the house; duties, financial obligations. Friday F ¡V Family - relatives, our own children and grandchildren. Saturday ¡V S ¡V Sinners: Friends, family and others in need of Christ around the world; Sunday ¡V S- Saints - Those people of whom we are aware who have recently believed in the Savior; the Persecuted believers, and, revival in the Church today. Now, as I go into each day, God has given me precious food from His Word upon which my mind and heart can reflect when I will later be faced with the demands of the day. So, let us constantly remember, the most important duty that each one of us must attend every morning is to "get our soul in a happy state before God." How wonderful to know that every day the Lord Jesus extends His very own personal invitation to you. He graciously invites you and I to "Come and Eat!"
